Mental Math

The three mental Math strategies are:

1. Make easy numbers.
2. Break up numbers.
3. Compensate.

Mental computation may use one strategy or combination of these three strategies. For exampl, in making easy numbers. you may have to break up nubers. Or, to make easy numbers you may have to compansate.

Students should be aware of these strategies and be able to identify which ones they're using.

Solve the problems below by making easy numbers. Look for numbers that add to 10,20,30 or other easy ten numbers.
